25th Annual Veterans Day Observance Monday, November 12, 2012
The parade will commence at 10:20 a.m. from the Downtown Plaza, located on Wilshire Avenue, east of Harbor Boulevard and adjacent to the Fullerton Museum Center, and end at Hillcrest Park, which is located at the intersection of Harbor and Valley View Drive.
The ceremony at Hillcrest Park will be held at 11 a.m. at the veterans' memorials. Colonel Richard A. Lamb, Commander, 311th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) (Rear), Los Angeles, will be the guest speaker. The ceremony will also include the placement of wreaths at the veterans’ memorials, as well as the playing of “Taps.”
All veterans are welcome to join in the parade, which will feature JROTC units from Fullerton area high schools. The Troy High School Navy JROTC unit will carry flags representing all 50 U.S. states. Parade participants are asked to arrive at the plaza no earlier than 10 a.m. To march in the parade, veterans must be able to march in regular cadence for approximately three-quarters of a mile. No banners other than the flags carried by the JROTC units will be allowed in the parade. For safety reasons, pets will not be permitted either in the parade or at the ceremony.
The observance, hosted by Fullerton American Legion Post 142 and the Fullerton Emblem Club 469. The City of Fullerton is assisting with the event.
