The 2017 Veteran’s Day parade and ceremony, held on Saturday, November 11th is making a one time change from Hillcrest Park to the Fullerton College Quad (321 E Chapman Ave). Due to the construction going on at Hillcrest Park, the Veteran’s Day parade and ceremony is not able to be held at the park this year. The ceremony has been shifted to the Fullerton College Quad. Free parking will be available in the college parking structure.
Parade route will be: Leave the Fullerton Downtown Plaza at 10:20 a.m.. West on Wilshire to North on Harbor, to East on Chapman, to North onto the Fullerton College campus.
The ceremony at Fullerton College Quad will be held at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony will also include the placement of wreaths at the veterans’ memorials, as well as the playing of “Taps.”
All veterans are welcome to join in the parade, which will feature JROTC units from Fullerton area high schools. The Troy High School Navy JROTC unit will carry flags representing all 50 U.S. states. Parade participants are asked to arrive at the plaza no earlier than 10:00 a.m. To march in the parade, veterans must be able to march in regular cadence for approximately three-quarters of a mile. No banners other than the flags carried by the JROTC units will be allowed in the parade. For safety reasons, pets will not be permitted either in the parade or at the ceremony.
The observance, hosted by Fullerton American Legion Post 142 and the Fullerton Emblem Club 469. The City of Fullerton is assisting with the event.
