FULLERTON, Calif. (Jan. 5, 2017) ––On Thursday, January 5, 2017, the Fullerton City Council held a special meeting to discuss the position of city manager.
City Attorney Richard D. Jones reported out of closed session on the unanimous direction by City Council to begin the process of appointing Allan L. Roeder as the interim city manager.
Additionally, the Council provided unanimous direction to engage Avery and Associates for the recruitment of a permanent city manager.
“We are happy to have someone as established and seasoned as Mr. Roeder to serve our city,” said Fullerton Mayor, Bruce Whitaker. “Allan’s experience will be welcomed at City Hall and he will be a valuable asset to the entire city until we appoint a permanent city manager.”
Roeder served as city manager for the City of Costa Mesa from 1985 until his retirement in 2011, and was also appointed to serve as interim city manager for the City of Garden Grove from January to September 2015 until a permanent city manager was recruited.
Roeder’s contract is slated to be presented to the City Council for approval at the regularly scheduled meeting on January 17th with an anticipated started date of January 18th. Roeder will serve as interim city manager for the duration of the search for a permanent city manager.
