Arthritis Workshops at the Community Center

The Fullerton Community Center will host a free two-part workshop about arthritis on Monday, August 29 and Tuesday, August 30 from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. The workshops will be taught by a public health nurse from the Orange County Health Care Agency.

Arthritis generally refers to more than 100 rheumatic diseases and conditions that affect joints, the tissues that surround the joint and other connective tissue. About 1 out of 5 adults is affected by some form of the condition. The most common forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Part 1 of the workshop will focus on a discussion of osteoarthritis, the causes and how exercise, diet, and medication can help you live a more healthy life. Part 2 of the workshop will examine rheumatoid arthritis, gout and fibromyalgia including a discussion on these conditions and what medications can help. In addition, the class will explain the influence that nutrition and exercise has on an increased sense of wellbeing.

There is no charge for the workshops, but pre-registration is requested. To attend one or both sessions, please call the Community Center at 714 738-6305. This informative program is sponsored by the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Senior Health Outreach & Prevention services.

The Fullerton Community Center is located at 340 W. Commonwealth Avenue. For more information about programs and services at the center, please call (714) 738-6575.
