Fullerton Opens Cooling Center at Community Center

In response to continued high temperatures that are expected to reach over 100 degrees in the coming days, the City of Fullerton has designated the Community Center as a "Cooling Center."

The “Cooling Center” will be activated on Sunday, June 19 and Monday, June 20 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will be available to all residents.

The Fullerton Community Center is located at 340 W. Commonwealth Avenue across the street from Fullerton City Hall.

Please take precautions during a heat wave. The CDC gives the following recommendations:

Older adults (65 years and older), infants and children and people with chronic medical conditions are more prone to heat stress.

Air-conditioning is the number one protective factor against heat-related illness and death. During conditions of extreme heat, spend time in locations with air-conditioning such as shopping malls, public libraries, or public health sponsored heat-relief shelters in your area.

Get informed. Listen to local news and weather channels or contact your local public health department during extreme heat conditions for health and safety updates

Drink cool, nonalcoholic beverages and increase your fluid intake, regardless of your activity level.

For more information, please call the Fullerton Community Center at (714) 738-6575.
