Airport Day and “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” Revs Up for Fullerton
Excitement is building for Fullerton’s Airport Day on Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The annual event will feature displays of vintage and modern aircraft, classic automobiles, aviation-related exhibits, aircraft fly-bys, booths and vendors, and activities for children and adults. Admission and parking are free; airplane and helicopter rides will be available for a donation.
“We are really excited to present Airport Day,” explained Airport Manager Brendan O’Reilly. “In the past year, our lobby has undergone a complete renovation, and Wing’s Café has opened, much to the delight of the community. All are invited to come and enjoy a day on the tarmac and learn more about the only municipal airport in Orange County.”
Similar to years past, Airport Day will be in conjunction with the “Trains, Planes, & Automobiles,” a celebration of transportation in Fullerton. This trio of successive weekends begins with Railroad Days at the Fullerton Transportation Center running April 30-May 1, continuing with Airport Day on May 7, and concluding with the Muckenthaler Car Festival at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center May 14-15.
Airport Day is expected to bring thousands of visitorsto the airport, with local aviation businesses and others in attendance. Members of the Fullerton Police and Fire Departments will be present, along with representatives from Anaheim Police Department and the California Highway Patrol. Airport Day provides an opportunity to showcase this Fullerton asset and the role it plays supporting the Southern California region.
