“Treasured Lands: The Fifty Nine US National Parks in Focus,” at the Fullerton Museum
Fullerton, CA – The award-winning Fullerton Museum Center will present the first exhibition of QT Luong’s work, “Treasured Lands: The Fifty Nine US National Parks in Focus,” on November 21, 2015. Luong, who has travelled across the United States to photograph all 59 US National Parks is the only photographer known to have made large-format photographs in all of the parks.
The exhibition, which will span the length of the Main Gallery walls, will reveal the breadth and inventiveness of the photographer. This will be the first time that these instantly recognizable works and series will be brought together in a single exhibition at the Fullerton Museum Center, recently selected by the Orange County Weekly as the “Best Art Museum Orange County 2015.”
“Treasured Lands: The Fifty Nine US National Parks in Focus,” spans the past 20 years of Luong’s career that has earned him a spot as a character in the popular Ken Burns PBS series “The National Parks: America’s Best Idea” (2009). The clarity and scale of his main photographs made with 5x7 inch camera sets them apart as works of art, allowing the viewers to see the beauty of the land from a personal perspective.
Short notes about each photograph will add both a better understanding and appreciation for each location.
There is a $10 admission fee for this event, but is free for members of this Museum. The exhibition will open on Saturday, November 21, starting at 6:00 p.m. with refreshments, live music, curator’s talk and more. “Treasured Lands: The Fifty Nine US National Parks in Focus,” will be open to public through January 17, 2016.
