Chief Jon Radus
Chief Jon Radus began his law enforcement career with the Fullerton Police Department in October 2002, serving in the Operations Division as a patrol officer before joining the Community Enhancement Team. He later worked as a detective in both the Gang Unit and Narcotics Unit and served for seven years as an operator on the North County SWAT Team.
As a Police Corporal, Chief Radus returned to Patrol and served as a Field Training Officer. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2014, continuing his service in Patrol.
In 2015, Chief Radus was selected as the Department’s Public Information Officer and Supervisor of the Community Services Bureau, where he managed media relations, public communications, social media platforms, and community events. He also oversaw the Department’s School Resource Officer program.
Promoted to Lieutenant in 2018, Chief Radus was assigned to the Traffic Bureau, overseeing all traffic personnel and the Office of Traffic Safety grant. A riding lieutenant, he also led the Department’s Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Program, which has trained hundreds of officers statewide and beyond. Chief Radus has been a certified DRE and instructor since 2008 and continues to maintain his certification.
As a Lieutenant, he later served as a Patrol Watch Commander and Investigations Bureau Commander, overseeing all investigative units.
In 2021, Chief Radus was promoted to Police Captain, where he served as both Operations Division Commander and Services Division Commander.
He was appointed Interim Chief of Police by the Fullerton City Council in September 2023 and was named permanent Chief in February 2024. In this role, he leads a department of approximately 225 personnel and oversees a $70 million budget.
Chief Radus earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Organizational Management, with a minor in City and Regional Planning, from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a graduate of the Cal State Fullerton Leadership Development in Public Agencies Consortium, the LAPD West Point Leadership Program, and the Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security Executive Leaders Program. He also serves as an instructor for the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Management Course through the Cal State Long Beach Foundation.
Chief Radus currently serves as President of the Orange County Chiefs of Police and Sheriff’s Association.
He is married and has three children.
