2025 LHMP Update

Current Phase: Public Outreach

The City of Fullerton is currently updating its Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP).

This plan serves as our community’s roadmap for reducing long-term risks associated with natural hazards such as earthquakes, wildfires, and extreme weather. By identifying vulnerabilities and prioritizing mitigation actions, we ensure a more resilient Fullerton for all residents and businesses.

Why We Update the Plan

Updating the LHMP every five years is a federal requirement under the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000. This process is vital for the City to:

  • Maintain eligibility for non-emergency disaster assistance.
  • Qualify for FEMA mitigation grants to fund local safety and infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure current data informs our emergency response and recovery strategies.
