2026 LHMP Update
The City of Fullerton has updated its Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP), and the draft is now pending adoption by the City Council.
This plan serves as our community’s roadmap for reducing long-term risks associated with natural hazards such as earthquakes, wildfires, and extreme weather. By identifying vulnerabilities and prioritizing mitigation actions, we ensure a more resilient Fullerton for all residents and businesses.
Why We Update the Plan
Updating the LHMP every five years is a federal requirement under the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000. This process is vital for the City to:
- Maintain eligibility for non-emergency disaster assistance.
- Qualify for FEMA mitigation grants to fund local safety and infrastructure projects.
- Ensure current data informs our emergency response and recovery strategies.
