Fullerton, CA - The term "summer camp" has a whole new meaning when the award-winning Fullerton Museum Center presents its popular “Summer Art Camp” for children in first through sixth grades, August 5-9 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

Titled “Art Camp:  The Art of Nature,” the unique one-week day camp will use nature to introduce budding artists to both the art and natural worlds.

Participants will be at the Museum Center experimenting with varied art media in the morning, “with the earth, see and stars serving as our inspiration,” said Aimee Aul, education coordinator for the museum.

The plant and insect life around the museum and plaza area will also be studied in a special emphasis placed on urban ecology.  In addition, live animals will be brought into the studio to serve as “models” for the budding artists.

Time will also be given to learning about every kid's favorite subject, dinosaurs!

Fee for the camp is $105 per child for the general public and $90 for members of the Fullerton Museum Center.  The fee includes all materials.  Campers must bring a sack lunch daily, and a mid-morning snack will be provided.

Space is limited in the camp and advance prepaid registration is required.  Registration and further information may be obtained by calling the Fullerton Museum Center at (714) 738-6545.

Registration may also be done on-line at, or by coming to the museum at 301 N. Pomona Ave., one block east of Harbor Boulevard, in downtown Fullerton.  Museum hours are noon-4 p.m. Tuesday-Wednesday and Friday-Sunday, and noon – 8 p.m. Thursday.

Parents of children requiring special accommodations to participate in the art camp are asked to notify the museum staff at the time of registration.
