Fullerton, Ca -- Classic rock and roll will be the order of the day Thursday, June 6, when the band “Superlark” takes the stage at the outdoor Fullerton Market.
The popular market, now in its 22nd year of operation, is open from 4-8:30 p.m., and offers farm-fresh produce, flowers, fresh-baked breads, arts and crafts, food vendors including Korean BBQ, and live entertainment.
The market also features a beer and wine garden for adults and a Kids’ Korner, offering special activities to keep children happy while their parents shop. Kids will also enjoy the amenities of a bounce house, arts & crafts, balloon art, face painting and mini-train rides. During warm weather, the Plaza’s pop jet fountain provides a great cooling-off spot for youngsters who are welcome to wear their swim suits.
Admission to the market is free.
Band drummer Michelle Mangione has been playing and teaching music since she was a teen. She has played with some of the best in the field, including Robben Ford and Buddy Collette, and has extensive experience as a music producer, engineer and arranger.
"Superlark” also utilizes the talents of lead guitarist Tom Kolb, an instructor at Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, as well as an author of several books on music theory and instruction.
Band member Steve Soest, from Orange County, has played bass, guitar and keyboard with such music legends as Dick Dale, Chuck Berry. James Intveld and the Bel-Airs. Rounding out the group is Angela Riggio, who has sung, played and recorded with rock legends like Jon Anderson, the Drifters, Tierra, and Trim.
The band has been named one of the top 100 unsigned bands by “Music Connection Magazine,” and was nominated in the category of “Best Cover Band” by “Rock City Music Magazine.”
The band will perform from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Fullerton Market is located in the Downtown Plaza on Wilshire Avenue, between Harbor Boulevard and Pomona Avenue, adjacent to the Fullerton Museum Center.
Visitors to Fullerton Market will also be able to tour the award-winning Fullerton
Museum Center, which offers a special reduced admission rate of $2 per person from 4-8 p.m. on market days, the first Thursday of every month.
Parking for Fullerton Market may be found in any of the free downtown lots, or in the parking structures at Wilshire (enter from Harbor); Lemon Street and Chapman Avenue; and in the Transportation Center on Pomona and Santa Fe Avenue.
