Fullerton Police participating in National Drug Take Back Day

The Fullerton Police Department will be participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, on Saturday, April 28.

Hours for the event will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  This is a free, anonymous service being offered to the public, no questions asked.

Fullerton Police Sgt. Jeff Stuart said that the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is a program sponsored by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Department of Justice. The Police Department is partnering with these organizations, as well as Orange County Community Service Programs to help the community get rid of unused or expired prescription medications.

Nationwide, the last two Prescription Drug Take Back Days collected more than 309 tons of pills.

“Every year, untold numbers of unused or expired medications find their way into our landfills and oceans due to improper disposal methods,” Sgt. Stuart said.  “We want to provide the community with a safe and convenient alternative to dispose of unwanted medications. This is why we are partnering with both local and federal agencies to help the community.”

The Fullerton Police Department is located at 237 W. Commonwealth Ave., at the northeast corner of the intersection of Commonwealth and Highland Avenue.  There will be a drive-through collection station set up on the Highland side of the department for those wishing to participate in this program.
