On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at approximately 1:07 AM, Fullerton Police Officers responded to the 200 block of South Basque Avenue to check on the welfare of a subject seen on the ground of a parking lot. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was unresponsive and bleeding from possible stab wounds. Unfortunately, the male was pronounced deceased on scene by paramedics. The victim’s identity will be released by the Orange County Coroner.

Fullerton Police Detectives quickly began their investigation into several leads and soon identified David Vargas Carrillo Jr, a 48-year-old male from Fullerton, as the suspect of the murder. On December 20, 2021, Detectives along with the North County Swat Team located and arrested David Carrillo Jr. in Anaheim. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and was transported to the Orange County Jail.
