What: Demolition work at the Fullerton train station.
As work begins, crews will remove a row of parking spaces adjacent to the south platform, east of the overhead bridge; relocate two handicap parking spaces; and relocate a bike rack and fence off a portion of the platform where the demolition work will occur. Additional parking can be found west of the construction area identified as “Public Parking.”
Where: Fullerton train station, 120 E. Santa Fe Ave. in Fullerton.
When: Expected to begin Monday, Nov. 2, 2009.
Work will occur Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The work is estimated to last up to nine months.
Why:
At the conclusion of construction, Metrolink passenger-rail service will run more frequently between Fullerton and Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo, making rail travel more convenient for thousands of riders. As part of this project, upgrades are necessary at both the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo and the Fullerton stations to allow the trains to turn around more efficiently.
