Fullerton Police Release Identity of Bicyclist Killed in Collision

The Fullerton Police Department has released the name of the bicyclist killed in yesterday's hit and run collision that occurred at around 10:21am, at Bastanchury Rd and Morelia Street, in the City of Fullerton.

According to Sergeant Jeff Stuart, the cyclist has been identified as Richard Douglas Paine, 41 years of age, of La Habra.

"While we are not at a point to make a determination as to who was at fault, our preliminary investigation suggests that the collision occurred as a result of Paine riding his bicycle into the path of oncoming traffic.  Although we can't confirm who had the right of way at this time, our investigation thus far, indicates that vehicular traffic was moving at reasonable speeds for this section of the road," Stuart said.

The hit and run suspect vehicle, described as a small black car, with side or front collision damage, and is still outstanding.  Police are asking for the public's help in locating the vehicle and driver.  Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact Fullerton Police Department Accident investigators at (714) 738-6812 or (714) 738-6813.
