Fullerton Police Department
The Fullerton Police Department enforces local, state, and federal laws, and provids around-the-clock protection of the lives Fullerton Policeand property of the public. The Police Department functions both as an instrument of public service and as a tool for the distribution of information, guidance and direction.

It is the mission of the Police Department to facilitate and administer the laws of governing bodies, the orders of the courts, and to direct all energies and resources toward maintaining the health, welfare and safety of citizens.


State College Blvd Closure Starting January 9
January 6, 2015
One of the city's biggest road construction projects will begin this week with the closure of the intersection at State College Blvd and E. Valencia Drive on Friday, January 9. When completed, the project will move cars safely and smoothly under the railroad tracks, enhancing and boosting mobility. During this closure, drivers will be detoured to Acacia Avenue, which will be temporarily striped to a four-lane roadway. Here's a link for more information on the project:

Fullerton Police Arrest Suspect in Arson at Muckenthaler
May 8, 2014The Fullerton Police Department announced that it has arrested Gabriela Gomez, a 29 year old Buena Park resident, for her involvement in the latest arson to take place at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton. On May 5, 2014, Officers responded to a report of a fire at the Muckenthaler Center. The fire was located in a storage building near the stage. A 1960s Grand Piano and other items valued at over $15,000 dollars, were destroyed in this latest fire.

Fullerton Police Participaing in National Drug Take Back Day
April 24, 2014The Fullerton Police Department will once again be participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, this Saturday, April 26th from 10:00am to 2:00pm. This is a free, anonymous service being offered to the public, no questions asked.

Statement from Police Chief, Dan Hughes
January 13, 2014
As a result of the verdict, Dan Hughes, Fullerton's Chief of Police, has the following comment:

"We respect the jury's verdict, and appreciate the consideration the jury gave to the evidence. We understand that there may be a wide variety of reactions to the verdict and encourage anybody who wishes to express their feelings to do so respectfully.

Over the course of the past two and a half years the City of Fullerton Police Department has taken significant steps to make it the best department possible. As Fullerton’s new Police Chief, I will make sure those efforts continue so that our police department serves the community with honor, integrity and professionalism."

Statement from Mayor Doug Chaffee
January 13, 2014
As a result of the verdict, Doug Chaffee, Fullerton's new Mayor, has the following comment:

"Today, the jury has spoken and we respect the verdict. I understand and appreciate how difficult this has been for the Thomas family. We appreciate not everyone may agree with the jury's verdict. But we trust that the community will respect the verdict and the juror’s decisions.

Over the course of the past two and a half years the City of Fullerton has taken the initiative to implement reforms to our police department so it can provide the best possible service to our community. As Fullerton’s new Mayor, I will continue to make certain those efforts continue."


Fullerton Raised, Dan Hughes, Appointed Chief of Police
January 31, 2013The City of Fullerton is happy to announce the hiring of a new Chief of Police. During the January 15, City Council meeting, Captain Dan Hughes was appointed Chief of Police in a unanimous 5-0 vote. Hughes had been the Acting-Chief the past year.
