This exhibit tells the story of the second California Gold Rush, the quest for oranges, grapefruits, and lemons, the fruits that dominated the state's economy from the 1880s through the 1950s. Citrus: California's Golden Dream features a fascinating array of fruit labels, historical books, maps, postcards, packing crates and memorabilia. 
Citrus Crate Labels: An Artistic Overview with Gordon McClelland Thursday, February 9 7:00pm Free with regular Museum admission Author, artist and crate label collector Gordon McClelland will be talking about his 30 plus year fascination with this unique American art form. Recognized as one of the foremost expertson the topic, McClelland has written three books about crate labels and was featured in a segment of "California Gold" with Huell Houser. |
