When the telecaster, Fender's first solidbody electric, proved to be a success, Leo Fender turned his attention towards a fully electric bass guitar. He had the finished product-- the Precision Bass-- in hand in 1951. Music was never the same.
Melancholy Menagerie: A Gaze Into the World of Big Eyes

See these Big Eyes characters that have become iconic after nearly 4 decades. Decorative consumer art flourished in the 1960s as artists cranked out artworks with adorable characters, bright-eyed and innocent yet lonely, melancholy, and maybe even menacing. This exhibit will delve into the idea of why the Big Eyes character was so popular in the 60s and why it's had a resurgence in contemporary art.
