Tree Root Damage to Sidewalks

Maintenance Services' Landscape and Street Divisions work jointly to solve problems regarding landscape damage to pavement. To report this problem, please call Maintenance Services at (714) 738-6897.

Because the City of Fullerton takes great pride in its trees, the tree in question will not be automatically removed. Each situation must be evaluated individually to determine the best approach.

The Landscape Division will send the City's Tree Inspector to assess the situation and determine a course of action (root pruning, removal, etc.). The Inspector will then contact the Street Division, which will assess if sidewalk grinding, patching, or replacement is appropriate. Crews from both divisions will then be scheduled to solve the problem. Occasionally, when a large area of pavement is in question, the Engineering Department may become involved.
