The Fullerton Fire Department provides a variety of programs designed to protect the lives and property of the inhabitants of the City of Fullerton from the adverse effects of fires, sudden medical emergencies, or exposure to dangerous conditions. The department is composed of three sections; Administration, Operations/Training, and the Fire Prevention Division.
Administration
Administration is responsible for the overall coordination and direction of the department. Additionally, Administration oversees the City's disaster preparedness plan.
Operations/Training
Operations/Training is responsible for providing continuous service for fire control and suppression, rescue, and medical aid, and the Paramedic Subscription Program. Operations/Training also provides emergency response for controlling Hazardous Materials Incidents. Operations/Training is responsible for providing: state and federally mandated training, ongoing continuing education related to hazardous materials, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and paramedic recertification. Additionally, the training function includes updating personnel in new technologies and methodologies to ensure preparedness for the broad range of situations to which the Fire Department responds.
Fire Prevention Division
The Fire Prevention Division conducts ongoing inspections for the purpose of life safety, reduction in property loss, weed and rubbish abatement, and the enforcement of federal, state and local fire regulations. The Fire Prevention Division is also responsible for determining fire cause and investigating suspicious fires. The Fire Prevention Division conducts inspections related to hazardous materials and underground storage tank regulations.

In recognition of October as “Fire Prevention Month,” the Community Emergency Response Team, a group of volunteers organized by the Fullerton Fire Department, will conduct a class focusing on fire safety at home or in the office.
Fire Department offers drowning prevention class In an effort to help protect children from becoming potential drowning statistics, the Fullerton Fire Department is offering its popular “Watch the Water” drowning prevention program in which parents learn how to keep their children safe when around water.
But a sad fact of this summertime pairing is that pools pose a very real danger to kids if they are left unattended in or near the water.In hopes of keeping kids safe when around pools, Fullerton’s Firefighters are offering valuable prevention tips.
Fullerton firefighters show ‘Cause for Alarm’
There will be “Cause for Alarm” in west Fullerton Oct. 16 but residents need not worry. “Cause for Alarm” is the title of a special joint venture of the American Red Cross and the Fullerton Fire Department to distribute free smoke alarms to residents.
Fire Chief Wolfgang Knabe has been awarded a Spurgeon Award by the Orange County Explorer Scouting Division. The award was presented in recognition of the Chief’s support of the Explorer Scouting in OrangeCounty, including the Fullerton Fire Explorer Post.
