Earthquake Awareness — a study of the earthquake threat in Southern California, and what to do before, during and after a quake. Fire Awareness — fire chemistry, fire safety, utility control, creative firefighting techniques and how to recognized hazardous materials.Disaster Medical Operations — recognizing and treating life-threatening emergencies, the “ABC’s of Triage”, basic first aid and treatment management.Light Search and Rescue Operations — evacuation, search techniques, rescue methods, including cribbing. Team Organization and Disaster Psychology — developing a response team using people on scene, utilizing the Incident Command Structure and completing a psychological size-up of victims of a disaster. Terrorism and Homeland Defense — a study of the history of terrorism, DOs and DON’Ts during a terrorist attack, and Homeland defense tips. |
