In 1996, Raytheon began a Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Facility Investigation (RFI) and Corrective Measures Study (CMS) pertaining to groundwater and soil contamination that originated at a 293 acre site formerly owned by the company. This large parcel of land was sold to developers in 1998 and is currently known as the Amerige Heights Shopping Center. As part of is ongoing investigative Raytheon is working to determine the extent of the contamination and testing treatment technologies that might be used as a final remediation remedy. Raytheon prepares regular progress reports regarding its activities and submits a copy to the Department of Toxic Substances Control (lead agency) and the City of Fullerton to review. In turn, the City of Fullerton provides a copy of each report to the Main Branch Library for public review or they may be downloaded below.
