Sidewalk Curb & Gutter Replacement Program

Background:

The sidewalk/curb & gutter repair program is a part of our continuing efforts to repair our deteriorated infrastructure and to provide safer and more attractive public facilities for our citizens.

Temporary repair is performed by City crews at sidewalk locations that are considered to be the City's responsibility to repair and consists of placing asphalt concrete to smooth the walking surfaces. In addition, sidewalk grinding is performed where the elevation difference is less than 1 inch.

The Engineering Department is responsible for soliciting contracts for the removal and reconstruction of damaged curb, gutter, or sidewalk. The City usually contracts out two projects each fiscal year and the locations are determined from a list that is compiled by the Maintenance Services Department and the Engineering Department.
