The Engineering Department provides Administration and Project Development & Design for the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP). This responsibility also includes deficiency surveys of the existing infrastructure system, coordination of CIP projects with other City departments, and administration of several special funding sources, such as Measure M, Gas Tax, and Sanitation funds.
Water System Management is responsible for the overall management of the City's water utility and Water Fund, including water supply and quality, replacement/upgrade of the water infrastructure system, coordination of the system maintenance and operation with the Maintenance Services Department, and administration of the Water Fund revenues/expenditures.
Traffic Engineering is responsible for operation, maintenance, and CIP programming of the City's traffic signal system, including coordination of the system with neighboring cities and Caltrans.
The department is also responsible for the administration and operation of the Fullerton Airport, including compliance with local, State, and Federal regulations; CIP project coordination; lease negotiations for the airport property uses, and public relations with citizens and local city agencies.
