Minutes March 21, 2002 - Project Area Committee No. 2

Called to order at 4:05 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Present: Joe Henn, Mike Hurst, Walt Johnson, Kim Pouch, Mike Ritto, Brian Williams, Robert Zerrenner

Absent: Rick Crane, Scott Dowds, Jane Reifer, Steve Rose

I. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MEETING ON JANUARY 17, 2002 -

Approved.

II. ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR -

The Committee elected Walt Johnson as Chair and Mike Ritto as Vice Chair for the current year.

III. FULLERTON COLLEGE MASTER PLAN -

Joe Henn distributed various photos of the college and described the projects that will be undertaken over the next five years:

Signing - corner monuments will be completed by April 1. Internal directional signs or building signs will be installed next.

Parking will be moved to the street frontages and ball fields will be moved to the interior. A new parking structure on Lemon will be built and be ready in 2003/04. The college will be looking at buying the Plummer parking structure in exchange for the museum.

Seismic work is planned for buildings requiring it.

New classroom and office building for southeast corner of Lemon and Chapman is planned.

Mr. Henn also distributed a proposed breakdown of how the bond proceeds will be used. A total of $125 million will be applied to various projects.

The District will be moving to Anaheim and will sell the Yorba Linda and La Habra facilities.

IV. B.R.E. AND MORGAN GROUNDBREAKINGS -

Terry Galvin invited committee members to the Morgan and B.R.E. groundbreakings.

V. PROJECT STATUS -

Terry Galvin explained the status of the Fox Theatre; Brian Williams explained the status of his addition and attempts to find new tenants for the first floor; Walt Johnson discussed Heroes and other interests in his Commonwealth buildings; Mike Hurst reported that the Parker Building has two retail clothing stores moving in; Terry Galvin stated that the Rita Bridge building had been sold to Al Bushala in February. So far no uses have been proposed.

VI. OTHER BUSINESS -

Mike Hurst asked about the Council elections and vacancies; Terry Galvin reminded members to submit their Conflict of Interest forms by the April deadline.

VII. ADJOURN -

Meeting was adjourned at 5:25 p.m.
