Status as of January 2010:

Responses to the Public Comments on the 2006 RDEIR, 2008 RRDEIR and 2009 RDEIR new sections have been completed. Hard copies are available for review at the Community Development Department, City Hall, at the Main Library and at the Hunt Branch Library. You may also view these documents on our Reports page.

City staff have also complied a list of questions and answers that came out of the public informational meetings which took place in July and August of 2009 which have been posted on the Reports page.

Status as of October 2009:

The City has prepared a new section to the Revised Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) analyzing potential greenhouse gas emissions from the proposed West Coyote Hills project.This new Section 4.14 of the DEIR is available for public review and comment October 15, 2009 - November 30, 2009.Thisnew section has been added to address the potential effect of the project on global climate change, and was prepared in response to public comments on prior draft EIRs.During the review period, the City will accept written comments addressed to:Community Development Department, Attn: Joan Wolff 303 W. Status as of July 2009:

The City of Fullerton invites you to attend a series of specially scheduled public meetings to discuss various aspects of the proposed West Coyote Hills development project. The following commissions/committees will hold public hearings, and invite input from all interested parties. Each commission/committee will make a recommendation on relevant aspects of the project to be forward to the Planning Commission and City Council for consideration.

Monday, July 27, 2009: The Parks and Recreation Commission will consider aspects of the project pertaining to park and recreation needs of the community, including public parks, open space, trails and improvements to the Robert E Ward Nature Preserve. Wednesday, July 29, 2009: The Energy Resource Management Committee will consider environmental protection issues related to sustainable development practices and resource conservation, such as water, energy and waste management. View the slides on-line here. View the minutes here.

Monday, August 3, 2009: The Traffic and Circulation Commission will consider those facets of the project related to transportation and circulation within the City, such as the proposed street network, roadway connections between the project area and existing street system and planned bikeway. Please come to a community meeting about the West Coyote Hills Specific Plan Amendments. This meeting will help prepare you for future public hearings by providing information about a proposed development on a 582-acre site. This is an informational meeting only – no recommendations or actions will be taken.Topics to be covered:

  • Synopsis of the Environmental Impact Report
  • Roadmap of the public review process
  • Questions

Public hearings will occur over the next several months, at which time the public is encouraged to offer comments and testimony regarding the merits of the project

West Coyote Hills Draft Specific Plan, March 2009

Status as of February 2009:

Comment letters to the 2008 Recirculated Revised Draft Environmental Impact Report have been collected and are posted on our Reports page here.

Status as of July 2008:

The comment period for the Revised Draft Environmental Impact Report ended in early March 2008. Response to Comments are being prepared.

Status (1/15/08):

As a result of comments received by the City on the March 2006 Revised Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR), significant new information has been added to the following four sections of the DEIR. (Listed sections have been posted on the Reports page.)

Section 4.4 - Air Quality

Section 4.9 - Public Health and Safety

Section 4.10 - Hydrology and Flood Control

Section 4.12 - Biological Resources

In accordance with Section 15088.5 of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the State CEQA Guidelines, the City is re-circulating these four sections of the DEIR for public review and comment.

The 45 day public reveiw period for the revised section is January 17 - March 3, 2008.

The revised sections have been posted on the Reports page.
