How to Get Involved Upcoming events - click here The General Plan process provides an opportunity to fully understand the current and future needs, identify community priorities, and address challenges facing the City. Where should new housing be built? What are the major traffic issues that need to be addressed? How can the City better protect its cultural and natural resources? If you care about the answers to these and other important questions about the future of Fullerton, your voice needs to be heard. Your participation matters! Throughout the coming months, there will be many opportunities to get involved and to make your voice heard, including the following: - General Plan Educational Series. This series took place April 4 and 23, 2007. It provided a chance to learn about General Plans and the environmental review process that will be taking place in our City over the next year.
- Introducing the General Plan/Virtual Fullerton Community Workshop and Reception. This workshop and reception provided an introduction to the General Plan and the process of updating the General Plan, as well as an opportunity to get to know the General Plan project team.
- General Plan “Roadshows”. Presentations to local groups, clubs, and organizations provided information about the General Plan and started the dialogue about Fullerton’s future. Contact Bob St. Paul at (714) 738-6559 if you would like a representative to come speak at one of your meetings!
- Neighborhood Discussion Groups. A series of neighborhood discussion groups were held to get more individualized input on local concerns.
- “Focused Future” Visioning Charrettes. These important visioning charrettes included community members who explored answers to the questions of “what are Fullerton’s assets?”, “what are its challenges?”, and, most importantly, “what are your ideas and priorities for Fullerton’s future?”. The outcome of these fun visioning charrettes established a foundation for the Fullerton General Plan.
- Youth Visioning Workshops. These workshops allowed an opportunity for youth to get involved in the visioning efforts of the General Plan process.
- Community Discussion Forums. A focused discussion forum on each element of the General Plan will be held to facilitate in-depth discussions on important topics of the General Plan. Whereas many of the community charrettes will be looking at the General Plan as a whole, these forums are to gain input on each of the specific elements of the General Plan.
- General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) Meetings. A General Plan Advisory Committee of 15 community members will provide insight, review, and direction in the General Plan Update process.
- Alternative Futures Land Use Charrettes. Participate in one of the charrettes in the Fall focused on different land use alternatives for the future of Fullerton. Using exciting computer technology, you will be able to visualize the potential impacts of different patterns of development and provide input on the alternatives being considered.
- General Plan Open House and Reception. Towards the end of the process, you will be invited to an open house to see displays and maps that highlight the key elements of the plan and provide your input and comments.
- General Plan Newsletters. At important junctures in the process, newsletters will be prepared to inform the community of recent progress.
