Project Description: This project proposes to construct 68 residential condominiums at 1600 W. Commonwealth Ave. (south side of Commonwealth Ave. near Basque Ave.) The project, as currently proposed, would require the approval of: a Tentative Tract Map, a change in General Plan Land Use from "Industrial" to "Medium Density Residential", a change in Zoning from "General Industrial" (M-G) to "Limited Density Multiple-Family Residential" (R-3), a Variance to reduce the required building-to-street setback, a Variance to reduce the required usable open space, a Variance to exceed the allowable lot coverage, approval of projected exterior noise levels up to 65 dB(A) and approval of a Major Site Plan. This application will require hearings before the Planning Commission and City Council. Past Status Reports Status as of Sept. 2007: Project approved by City Council. Demolition permits have been issued, grading permits are in plan check at this time.
Status as of 2/12/07: An Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration of Environmental Impacts has been prepared and is posted here for review. Comments should be sent to Mr. Andrew Kusch by February 22, 2007.
