APPROVAL OF MINUTES MOTION: By Member Wade Richmond, seconded by Member Bob Barclay to accept the minutes of the May 23, 2002 meeting. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS NOISE AND OPERATIONS REPORT/AIRPORT INCIDENTS - May 18, 2002 through July 31, 2002
Operations were reported by Manager Propst as follows: - July 2001 - 9,434 operations
- July 2002 - 9,803 operations
- June 2001 - July 2002 (12 consecutive months) - 97,604
Noise Complaints - Manager Propst reported on 14 noise complaints for 2002 in comparison to 6 noise complaints last year during this same period. He said there were a few individuals he was not able to talk to, but that letters would be written to them in response to their complaints. AIRPORT MONTHLY SAFETY INSPECTION Member Wade Richmond conducted the monthly safety inspection for July 2002. FAPA REPORT Nothing to report. MANAGER'S AIRPORT UPDATE He explained that storm water requirements and restrictions are expected to tighten in the next year, and what his goals are to prepare for those changes.
NEW BUSINESS There was no new business to discuss. COMMENTS FROM THE COMMITTEE Member Leigh Jacobs asked Manager Propst about signage at runway 6, and Manager Propst explained that a sign had been put up recently by the non-regular temporary employees who found signs in storage that had been taken down at one time in the past for an unknown reason. Member Jeff Harris inquired about the status of the recruitment for a part-time Airport Service Worker. Manager Propst explained that he has hired someone for this position, and that this individual was hired to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, and to fill in as needed during the week. He explained that his goal for hiring new staff is to have a presence on the airfield from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. every day of the year. He also said Airport Service Worker Rudy Padilla is out on sick leave and may decide to retire this year. Member Harris asked how long the recruitment process will take for hiring the a new Airport Service Worker. Manager Propst explained the process and gave an approximation of the length of time this process takes. He also discussed the Airport Operations Lead Worker position, saying that the position was approved by the City Council. He explained the interview process for this position, and that it will be more thorough than an Airport Service Worker position. He discussed the responsibilities of the person hired for this position, which will include computer experience. He explained the reason for changing the title of Senior Airport Service Worker, and that the responsibilities for this job will increase. He also said that recruitment for this position will be open to City employees and to the general public. MOTION: Member Wade Richmond motioned, seconded by Member Leigh Jacobs to adjourn the meeting in memory of Charlie Ferranti. Motion carried. The Fullerton Noise and Safety Committee voted unanimously to adjourn their meeting IN MEMORY OF CHARLIE FERRANTI. COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC There were no comments from the public.
