Meeting commenced at 6:10 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES No quorum. Minutes for the March meeting will be approved at the next meeting. OLD BUSINESS NOISE AND OPERATIONS REPORT/AIRPORT INCIDENTS - March 21 through April 17, 2002
Operations & Noise Complaints - There were 8,857 operations in March 2002 as compared to 8,377 in March 2001. The twelve month totals were 92,715. This appears to be a positive upward trend, despite the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Manager Propst said he expects to see more operations since John Wayne Airport raised their general aviation rents 40 percent last month. There were two noise complaints. Both complaints were against single engine planes in Fullerton. This compares with one complaint for the same period last year. Manager Propst noted that there were no complaints about helicopters during this period. He introduced Sergeant Matt Clark of the California Highway Patrol, Air Unit, who was attending the meeting. AIRPORT MONTHLY SAFETY INSPECTION There was no monthly safety inspection for April. FAPA REPORT Nothing reported. MANAGER'S AIRPORT UPDATE South Ramp Reconstruction - Manager Propst reported that there is more painting to be done, and some of the low spots in the asphalt still need to be ground down for a second time. He also reported that Senior Airport Service Worker Charlie Ferranti halted installation of the chains when he discovered that the contractor was about to install hardware that was not what was called for in the engineer's specifications. Manager Propst commented that the airport looks as good as it does because of Charlie. Master Plan Update - Manager Propst said that the recruitment for a planning advisory committee is still underway. Airport Day - Manager Propst reported that the Fullerton Chapter of the Ninety-Nines, Inc. would not be available on September 14, so Airport Day will probably be scheduled for September 28, 2002. To have it any later, he said, might be risking that the weather might be bad for this event. Another Airport Day meeting will be set up soon. Budget - Manager Propst reported that the budget will be reviewed by the City Council at their next meeting. He said he will bring copies for the committee to review at their next meeting.
NEW BUSINESS None. COMMENTS FROM THE COMMITTEE Member Wade Richmond commented about the poor attendance at this meeting. Manager Propst explained that, according to the City of Fullerton Municipal Code, members who have missed three consecutive meetings might have to be replaced. COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC There were no comments from the public. NEXT NOISE AND SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING The next meeting will be Thursday, May 23, 2002. ADJOURNMENT - 6:25 p.m. Recorded by: Jackie Reinsvold, Administrative Secretary |
