Refuse Collection

Residential refuse

• Must be placed in sturdy containers
  • no larger than 40-gallon capacity
  • the weight of each container when full must not exceed 50 pounds
• Cardboard boxes and plastic bags may be used, but will be considered refuse and taken weekly.
• There is no limit to the amount of rubbish set out for collection.
  • However, brush, tree trimmings, clippings, etc., that are not placed in containers must be 4 feet or shorter, and must be securely tied in bundles not exceeding 16 inches in diameter. Learn about Green Waste Collection.
  • Rubbish shall not include hazardous materials, chemicals, auto bodies, manure, dirt and rocks, or waste from grading or demolition.
• Rubbish shall not be placed at curbside for collection before 1:00 a.m. on the day before collection, and must be removed by midnight after collection.
• Bulky item pickup is available.

Apartment buildings

• with less than five units
  • may use standard residential trash containers no larger than 40-gallon capacity, not exceeding 50 pounds, or cardboard boxes or plastic trash bags.
• buildings with five or more units
  • will require a three-cubic-yard container provided by the contractor.
  • MG Disposal will bill the customer for container rental monthly.

Holiday Trash Pickup

No rubbish will be collected on Sundays or on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day.

Residential trash scheduled to be picked up on a holiday will be picked up no later than the following business day, along with most of the regular routes for that day. Therefore, continue to put out your trash on your regular pickup day.

Commercial and industrial trash scheduled to be picked up on a holiday will be picked up no later than the following business day, along with most of the regular routes for that day.

Special Item Pickup

Residents can arrange to have bulky items, such as discarded water heaters, furniture, washing machines, or other appliances, picked up for disposal providing the item does not exceed 125 pounds. To make arrangements, please call MG Disposal at (714) 238-3300. MG Disposal may pick up refrigerators and air conditioners; however, there is a fee to handle the freon removal. Household hazardous waste must be taken to the Orange County Hazardous Waste Collection Station located at 1131 N. Blue Gum Street, Anaheim, CA 92806. The regular hours are 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday; closed rainy days; closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Fourth of July.
