Fullerton, Ca – All the colors of spring will be on display Sunday, April 27, when the nonprofit beautification group Fullerton Beautiful presents its 28th Annual Open Gardens Tour. The tour will be held from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m., and will feature a wide variety of garden types, including edible gardens, eco-friendly gardens, gardens for entertaining, and secret gardens.

Maps to the locations of the seven gardens to be spotlighted in the tour are $10, and may be purchased at the Fullerton College Horticulture Department, located east of the intersection of Lemon Street and Berkeley Avenue.

Visitors are also invited to walk through the department's gardens, and plants will be available for sale.  Proceeds from the sales support the department’s internship program.

Among the gardens to be featured in the Open Gardens Tour is the "Secret Garden" of Felicia Campbell.  The garden is the result of more than two decades of loving care, and offers a creative and fanciful use of botanicals to create “rooms,” including a living room, dining room complete with crystal chandelier, and a bedroom perfect for reading books and taking leisurely afternoon naps.  A noble Chinese elm tree provides leafy coverage for the area.

Also on the tour will be the eco-friendly garden of the Hoonsbeen Family.  With the help of landscape designer Rob Moore of California Native Landscape Design of Brea, the Hoonsbeens developed a drought-tolerant garden that features monkey flowers, sages and California fuchsias which attract hummingbirds.  The garden also offers blue Palo Verde, a rosemary bush, manzanitas, various salvias and seaside daisies.   Whimsical art pieces scattered throughout enhance the garden as a place for relaxation.

Further information about the Open Gardens Tour may be obtained by calling Fullerton Beautiful spokeswoman Nancy Spencer at (714) 871-4156, or by logging onto the organization’s website at www.fullertonbeautiful.org.
