Fullerton, Ca - Susan Orlean's lively accounts of the unexpected have garnered a movie adaptation and scores of good reviews.  Orlean will share some of her finds - including the true story of Rin-Tin-Tin - on Sunday, February 2 at 2:00 p.m. at Fullerton Public Library.

Orlean’s The Orchid Thief inspired the Oscar-nominated film Adaptation. Her most recent book is a biography of the canine actor Rin-Tin-Tin. Orlean’s work as a journalist has included articles in Rolling Stone, Esquire, and Vogue. She is a staff writer for The New Yorker.

Orlean’s subjects are varied, but never fail to fascinate: a female bull-fighter, tween-age boys, and, of course, orchid thieves. Orlean says she always knew what she wanted to be: "Someone who wrote long stories about interesting things, rather than news stories about short-lived events."

Orlean’s talk will be followed by a book-signing. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
