Fullerton, Ca  - A rebroadcast of a September 18, 2012 City Council Study Session is now  available online and will be on Fullerton Cable Channel 3 Friday, October 12 at 6pm.

The September 18, 2012  Study Session was an analysis of the City’s pension and Other Post Employment Benefit (OPEB) liabilities conducted by Dr. Joe Nation, Ph.D. Dr. Nation serves as Professor of the Practice of Public Policy and Director, Graduate Public Policy Practicum at Stanford University. He has completed analyses of unfunded liabilities for the cities of San Francisco and San Jose, one in association with the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR) and one as an independent consultant. Dr. Nation has also authored a number of reports on California pension systems through the SIEPR.

In his analysis, Dr. Nation included comparisons to Anaheim, Costa Mesa, and Newport Beach along with discussion of possible measures to address the liabilities. Senior Pension Actuary, Kerry Worgan, from CalPERS followed Dr. Nation with a presentation as well. Mr. Worgan provided an overview of the CalPERS retirement system and addressed the status of the plans, projected retirement rates changes, and possible measures to address the unfunded liabilities within the CalPERS parameters.
