Garage fire leads to arrest of man for marijuana cultivation
Contact :Sgt. Andrew Goodrich, Fullerton Police Department    (714) 738-6838

Police arrested a man Friday (Jan 13) for marijuana cultivation and running a marijuana extraction lab after a garage fire.

Fullerton Police Sgt. Andrew Goodrich said that at about 5:10 p.m., Fullerton Fire responded to a report of a garage fire on Old Creek Rd. in Fullerton. When they arrived, the garage was engulfed in flames.

The fire was extinguished, and as they searched the residence for possible victims, they located a room filled with about 50 marijuana plants. Narcotics detectives were called to the scene and began their investigation.

Police arrested Corbin King, 23 years-old from Fullerton, for cultivation of marijuana and for running a marijuana extraction lab. An extraction lab is where THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is extracted from marijuana using chemicals, including butane. The butane is used with a heating element. At some point during the process, the butane gas exploded and the garage caught fire.

A second man was also on-scene and suffered minor burns, but he was not hospitalized or arrested.

Anyone with information about this incident can call the front desk of the Fullerton Police Department at (714) 738-6716.
