Weather forecasts of rain this weekend (Feb. 6 and 7) have forced the Fullerton Parks and Recreation Department’s to postpone its annual “Snow Day” at the Brea Dam Recreational Area a second time.

The new date for the event is Saturday, Feb. 13, and the Parks and Recreation Department will be notifying everyone who has made reservations of the change.

The event was originally scheduled for Jan. 30, but predictions of rain prompted the first change – to Feb. 6.

Tons of the frosty stuff will be delivered to the dam Feb. 13 to enable youngsters to sled, make snow people, and have old-fashioned snowball battles.

The chilly fun will be held from noon-3 p.m., and the recreational area is located at 1700 N. Harbor Blvd., between the YMCA and Golfers’ Paradise.

Additional parking and shuttles will be available at the parking structure behind the American Automobile Association building on Harbor.

The event will feature three 75-foot sled runs, as well as a special toddler sled run for children 5 and under.  There will also be a Kids’ Play Area, crafts and games, a “Blast Zone,” and a family campfire.

Refreshments including hot dogs, tri-tip sandwiches, lemonade, coffee, hot chocolate, marshmallows and s’mores will be available for purchase.

Children are advised to wear warm clothes and gloves.  Sleds will be provided by the city.

Advance registration fee for the event is $6 per person.  Children under 2 years of age will be admitted free.  Admission will be $9 per person the day of the event.

Registration can be made on line on the City’s website at www.ci.fullerton.ca.us, or by calling the Parks and Recreation Department at (714) 738-6575.

Parents of children requiring special accommodations to participate in the event are asked to notify the department staff at the time of registration.
