The Fullerton Senior Multi-Service Center will hold its annual Flu Clinic Thursday, Nov. 5.

The clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the center, which is located at 340 W. Commonwealth Ave., west of Harbor Boulevard, in Amerige Park.

The clinic is free to senior citizens 60 years of age and older, as well as to persons with high-risk health conditions.

The clinic will offer shots to protect against this winter's flu strains.  This will be the influenza vaccine;  no vaccine will be available at this clinic for the Swine Flu (HiN1).

Since California’s flu season does not peak until January or February, people receiving their shots Nov. 5 should have ample time to build immunity against this season’s flu strains.

Persons who are allergic to eggs or who are running a fever the day of the clinic should not receive the immunizations.  Appointments are not necessary for the shots.

The Senior Center will also be hosting a holiday craft fair during the clinic to promote service projects of the Needlecrafters and Caring Companions.  Refreshments will be provided by Fullerton Girl Scout troops.

The Flu Clinic is cosponsored by the Fullerton Parks and Recreation Department, Preventive Health Care for the Aging, and the Orange County Health Care Agency.

Further information about the event may be obtained by calling the Senior Multi-Service Center at (714) 738-6305.

Persons requiring special accommodations to attend the clinic are asked to notify the center prior to Nov. 5.
