Education program to help hearing-paired

Help for the hearing-impaired will be offered in a special free eight-week education program set for the Fullerton Senior Multi-Service Center starting Monday, Sept. 14.

           

The course, held from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the center, is sponsored by the North Orange County Community College District’s Continuing Education Program, and will be taught by audiologist Jane F. Steckler. 

           

The course will include discussion on how the ear works, on what can go wrong with hearing, and what methods are available to correct hearing problems.  The basics of lip reading will also be presented, as will information about devices to improve hearing.

           

Pre-registration is requested and may be completed by calling the center at (714) 738-6305

 

The Senior Multi-Service Center is located at 340 W. Commonwealth Ave., two blocks west of Harbor Boulevard, in Amerige Park. 

           

Persons requiring special accommodations to participate in the class are asked to notify the center staff prior to Sept. 14.
