If your planning on taking your family to the Fullerton Parks and Recreation Department’s popular outdoor summer concerts but wonder how you all can have dinner and still arrive by the concerts’ 6:30 p.m. start time, no need to worry.
This year, for the first time, the concerts will bring dinner to you!
Fullerton restaurants have been invited to man a booth at the concerts and provide food for sale for hungry concert-goers.
Ashley Glass, special events coordinator for the city, said a different restaurant will be at each concert throughout the six-concert series, which will be held at the Fullerton Sports Complex.
For the first concert, Wednesday, July 15, popular Heroes Bar and Grill will occupy the restaurant booth and will be offering favorite items from its menu.
While Heroes is dishing up the food, the popular band “The Answer” will be on stage performing the classic rock sounds of such legends as Jim Morrison and Creedence Clearwater.
Glass said other restaurants participating in the program and the dates they will appear are:
- July 22, Roscoe’s Deli; music by “Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys.”
- July 29, Bourbon Street; music by Rusty Anderson.
- Aug. 5, Matador Cantina; music by James Intveld.
- Aug. 12, The Olde Ship; music by “The Bruce Springsteen Tribune Band.”
- Aug. 19, Big B’s Barbecue; music by “Los Fabulocos.”
And if you have a sweet tooth, Frati Gelato Café will also have a booth at every
Concert and will offer treats to meet every taste for sale.
Of course, concert-goers are welcome to bring a picnic supper to enjoy, as well as lawn chairs or blankets for seating.
All concerts in the series will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. In addition to the music, the concerts will offer free arts and crafts for children.
The 18-acre Fullerton Sports Complex is located at 560 E. Silver Pine St., which is off Bastanchury Road, west of Brea Boulevard, in the Brea Dam flood control basin.
Parking for the disabled will be available at the site.
Further information about the concerts may be obtained by calling the Parks and Recreation Department’s Information Hotline at (714) 738-3167, or the Fullerton Museum Center at (714) 738-6545.
Persons requiring special accommodations to attend the concerts are asked to notify the department staff prior to coming to the sports complex.
