Things will get rocking at the Fullerton Sports Complex Wednesday, July 15, when the Fullerton Parks and Recreation Department’s popular outdoor summer concert series returns with a lineup of performers sure to please every musical taste.

All concerts in the series will be held from 6:30-8 p.m.  While food will be available for purchase at the complex, concert-goers are welcome to bring a picnic supper to enjoy, as well as lawn chairs or blankets for seating.

In addition to the music, the concert will offer free arts and crafts for children.

Kicking off the series July 15 will be the group “The Answer,” which performs the classic rock sounds of such legends as Jim Morrison and Creedence Clearwater.

“The Answer” has been performing since 1964, and spent the last two years as the favorite house band at Music City, co-owned by the legendary Righteous Brothers.  The group has also performed at such popular night spots as The Hop, The Catch, The Boogie and The Coach House.

Lead singer Van Mosley has starred opposite of Dale Kristien, star of both the Los Angeles and Broadway productions of “Phantom of the Opera.”  He has also won a Drama Logue “best actor” award for his performance of Daddy Warbucks in a regional production of “Annie.”

Other concerts scheduled for the series include “Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys” July 22;  Rusty Anderson July 29;  James Intveld Aug. 5;  “The Bruce Springsteen Tribute Band” Aug. 12;  and “Los Fabulocos” Aug. 19.

The 18-acre Fullerton Sports Complex is located at 560 E. Silver Pine St., which is off Bastanchury Road, west of Brea Boulevard, in the Brea Dam flood control basin.

Parking for the disabled will be available at the site.

Further information about the concerts may be obtained by calling the Parks and Recreation Department’s Information Hotline at (714) 738-3333, or the Fullerton Museum Center at (714) 738-6545.

Persons requiring special accommodations to attend the concerts are asked to notify the department staff prior to coming to the sports complex.
