Contact : Bob St. Paul, Senior Planner, Fullerton Community Development Department    (714) 738-6559
Sylvia Palmer Mudrick, Public Information Coordinator, Fullerton City Manager’s Office    (714) 738-6317

A community open house has been set for Wednesday, Oct. 29, to obtain public input on the land use futures as part of the General Plan update in progress now.

The meeting, which is open to the entire community, will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Fullerton Senior Multi-Service Center, 340 W. Commonwealth Ave., two blocks west of Harbor Boulevard, in Amerige Park.

The General Plan is used by city officials to guide long-range planning and development in Fullerton.  The document consists of several state-mandated elements on topics such as land use, circulation, housing, resource management, and community health and safety.

State law requires cities to update their general plans every 10 years.  Fullerton’s last comprehensive update was completed in 1996.

Bob St. Paul, senior planner for the city, said discussion at the Oct. 29 meeting will concentrate on land use futures, which he described as “those areas of focus which may be experiencing transition or anticipating transition in the near future;  which exhibit special community resources, such as historic, educational or cultural uses;  which provide a variety of development options or market interest;  or which exhibit potential for enhancement through public or private investment.”

St. Paul said citizens can review proposed land use futures areas in advance of the open house on the General Plan Update section on the City’s website at www.ci.fullerton.ca.us, as well as provide the Update Team with suggestions for future land use in the city.

St. Paul said “citizens questions or suggestions can include additional considerations for each of the focus land use areas, such as is there a need to revise the boundary of a specific focus area;  should a specific focus area be revised, deleted or combined with another area;  and are there other new focus land use areas that should be considered?”

Further information about the open house or the update process may be obtained either by logging onto the update section on the city website or by calling St. Paul at (714) 738-6559.

Persons requiring special accommodations to attend the Oct. 29 open house are asked to notify St. Paul prior to the event.
