Wednesday, January 1, 2013 – CLOSED
Thursday, January 2, 2013 – OPEN regular hours
Friday, January 3, 2013 – CLOSED per regular alternating Friday closure schedule
Emergency city services such as police and fire protection will be unaffected by the closure, and city maintenance crews will be on standby in case of emergencies.
The city's winter holiday schedule is designed as a cost-saving measure as government business traditionally slows down during the holidays. The city benefits from reduced heating and electrical usages costs for facilities closed during the period.
The Fullerton Main Library along with the new Greenhouse Cafe will be closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 1. Patrons wishing to return books over the closure can place them in the Main Library Book Return, located the left of the main entrance.
FPL Station (Library Book Vending Machine), located next to the ground floor elevator at the parking structure west of the train station, will remain open during the holidays 24/7. You may check out books and return books to the book drop that is conveniently located across from the vending machine.
Patrons can also use the library's website – www.fullertonlibrary.org – to search databases, access the library’s catalog, and renew materials or place books on hold. Patrons will also be able to download e-books and audio-books via the website.
The Treasurer's Office at Fullerton City Hall will be closed in observance of the holiday closure. However, utility services bills shall not be due during this time. Residents may still pay their utility services bills by dropping their payment envelopes in the water payment drop box located on the exterior wall of the north side of City Hall or by using the curbside water payment drop box located at the curb.
Residents may also pay their water bills on-line by logging onto the City’s website at www.cityoffullerton.com, and clicking on the "shortcuts" located on the left side and selecting “water bill payment.” This link will allow you to make your payment on-line and it will be posted the same day.
The city's Community Development Department will be share similar hours as City Hall during the holidays. Citizens needing to schedule inspections may call the automated appointment number (714) 738-6542 during operating hours. A limited number of inspections will take place on December 26 and 27.
All divisions of the Fullerton Police Department, with the exception of the administrative office, will be staffed during the closure.
The Fullerton Fire Department’s Fire Suppression Division will be fully staffed during the closure; however, the department’s administrative office will be closed.
The administration office at Fullerton Municipal Airport will be closed during the holidays; however, the Air Traffic Control Tower will remain open, and airport service workers will be available to assist pilots through the closure.
Maintenance crews will be on duty to handle emergencies during the closure. No street sweeping will be performed Dec. 24-Jan. 1. Normal street sweeping operations will resume Jan. 2, 2013.
Since both Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Wednesdays this year, trash collection will be delayed by one day the remainder of both weeks. As a reminder, trash and recycling must be on the curb by 7:00 a.m. on collection day.
Holiday trees will be collected on your regular collection day beginning Monday, December 30th through Friday, January 10th. Trees larger than 6 ft. must be cut in half. Please call MG Disposal at (714) 238-2444 if you have any questions about the holiday collection.
For residents who select to place their trees out with their regular black trash containers, the tree stands (both metal and wood), decorations, lights and tinsel must be removed.
Flocked trees cannot be recycled. Citizens may discard their flocked trees by cutting them up and placing them in their regular trash containers or they can call MG Disposal at (714) 238-2444 to schedule a “bulky item pickup.” There is no additional charge for that service.
Further information about city closures during the holidays may be obtained by calling the city's Public Information Office at (714) 738-6317.
