|Fullerton, CA – The City of Fullerton and KOTRA Los Angeles (KOTRA LA) will sign a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Fullerton Library Conference Center located at 353 W. Commonwealth Ave. adjacent to City Hall.|
The MOU, according to Fullerton Mayor, Bruce Whitaker, "would be the first of its kind between a U.S. municipality and KOTRA. In addition, this MOU would enable KOTRA to more readily showcase and promote Fullerton as a business destination within their regular business assistance services."
In addition to Mayor Whitaker, members of the Fullerton City Council, City staff, VIPs from KOTRA and delegation members from Fullerton's South Korean Sister City, Yongin, will all be in attendance at the June 19th signing ceremony.
The proposed MOU is intended to facilitate mutually beneficial efforts to market and promote each party's respective region and highlight their industries, companies, institutions, programs, priorities and agendas to appropriate audiences.
According to Fullerton City Manager, Joe Felz, “this MOU would bring both parties together to discuss topics such as information sharing, marketing and promotion, visiting delegations and business assistance.” He added, “we will work together in many areas especially in sectors such as food production, entertainment, automotive, transportation and logistics, aviation and green technology.” Additionally, “this MOU has added importance given the passage of the U.S. Korea Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA) last year. The KORUS FTA removes barriers for U.S. exporters to sell more Made-in-America goods and services to Korean customers and also provides U.S. based suppliers with greater access to the Korean government procurement market. This MOU helps create a mechanism for Fullerton to better utilize and promote the opportunities of the KORUS FTA to Fullerton businesses."
KOTRA LA is a non-profit, governmental agency of the Republic of Korea tasked with promoting international trade and investment and is part of a worldwide network of over 119 offices in 81 countries, offering a wide variety of initiatives to support U.S. clients.
